As we pondered these questions it was revealed to me that I can be generous in how I give without being generous in how I live.

Conversely, it was revealed that a person who lives generously always gives generously. In other words, when we give generously, we can pick and choose when and how and to whom to give. We may be willing to be extremely generous in giving what we want to give where we want to give it. But with what we don’t want to give we can actually find ourselves being just as selfish and tight-fisted as the infamous Ebenezer Scrooge.

Living generously, not giving generously need to be our goal this way we won’t be like many who give generously during Christmas, but don’t live generously throughout the rest of the year. There are three characteristic of people who are living generously – which leads to greatness.

Listening to the still small voice within is an art form.

It requires us to sit still not just in body but also in mind. How does that work you might ask, when the mind is never still or quiet – practice have moments of pause is the clue. Glimpse or moments of clarity can support you in the practice.

One of the principles we expose at Charles & Shakira Unlimited is that your life is always an outward picture of what is happening on the inside. Is it possible to look out and get a clue on were you are heading? Absolutely!! Are you experiencing peace and order? Or does  your life look like confusion and chaos?

Criticizing is easy. Doing something constructive takes courage.

I was watching Super Soul Sunday recently and heard Dr. Brene Brown talk about the concept of being in the ring ( the arena). She explained the courage and tenacity it takes to stand up and have a voice with a face – simply to stand in the ring. Without this she exclaimed “you don’t get a say”.

Here was another ah ah moment for me. Not only do I need to step up my game by getting in the arena for my life but I can also practice to not criticize other people’s arena. Those around you should be free to design and make their own life – to live out their dharma.

It is truly amazing to step back and look at how busy our lives have become.

Sometimes the more I try to clear the plate so to speak is the more things get added on – it like magic (smiling). There is that constant need to be engaged and entertained to keep the caffeine pot brewing for fear that sleep will cause you to miss out on something.

As you probably notice the successful companies of our time are those that are technologically advance. They are getting the attention of consumers in “real-time”. Apps for smart phones are coming on the scene at a rapid pace, all the appliances in our homes are being synced. People are generally becoming more and more anxious about being on the cutting edge and not being left behind.

Every one of us has to find the humble stable, the lowly place of the dumb animals and under our own bright star find the Christ and the gift of everlasting faith ~ Mary Strong

In deep December when our world is more often cold and dark, than it is bright and hopeful, we turn toward the light. For some its the lower case light found at the mall, at the parties or in search for a repeat of holidays long ago. When life was gentler and joy was easier to come by. When we look more deeply however the December holidays – Hanukkah, Christmas & Kwanzaa – present us with the true light and our holiday celebrations take on a deeper meaning and warming glow.

With such a topic I could write for days but I figured I will take bits and pieces of the conversation on “mastering”. It is important in all things to have your premise and this in mine “You are responsible for your actions” – I know it is so easy to blame others, quite frankly it feels good because then we wouldn’t have to do any work. However, that’s my story and I am sticking to it. I’m not responsible for your actions neither are you mine.
