How often have you reached out trying to grasp that fleeting feeling of elation?

If you are anything like me you perhaps spent a life time or two. Reaching for the highs from circumstances that brings the sensation in your life and surroundings. In fact for me I was driven to pack on the accolades, attend the ceremonies and take on the roles that would bring the feeling.

Unfortunately, it eluded my every attempt to hang on to it. Needless to say almost everyone around me was experiencing the same predicament. The excruciating pain when one’s partner failed to arouse it was unbearable. Time after time I lifted myself from the bathroom floor disappointed that this one, this oh so special one did not turn out to be my JOY. Someone has my joy and I needed to find it, “where are you I kept pursuing.”

“Love doesn’t make the world go round; love is what makes the ride worthwhile.” ~ Franklin P. Jones

Today’s society is plagued by the idea that we are different from one another, based upon beliefs that we are separate from each other. Because of this, we see disagreements and wars manifest around the world. Rather than being disappointed by the destruction and hate we witness, we must allow the seeming adversity of life to inspire us to commit to practicing and being love. We are called forth by the pent of our society to take a stand for love, to be excellence in loving.

By: James O’Dea

I am moving from being locked into anger and outrage at war and violence, or being defined as a protest movement, to creating a culture of peace from the ground up, and from the inside out.

I am moving from reactive finger-pointing condemnation and judgement of others, arising out of my presumed superior moral positions, to engaging in dialogue, listening and non-violent communication strategies.

To create a world that works for all

We must create communities that work for all. We must become part of creating organizations, neighborhoods, cities and countries that works for all and collaborate with those who have the faith and the energy to create such a place.

Community is about the experience of belonging. We are in community each time we find a place where we belong. The word belong has two meanings. First and foremost, to belong is to be related to and a part of something. It is membership, the experience of being at home in the broadest sense of the phrase. It is the opposite of thinking that wherever I am, I would be better off somewhere else. Or that I am still forever wandering, looking for that place where I belong.

How can you tell if you are a perfectionist?

A Perfectionist is someone who holds the underlying belief that perfection can be attained and it should be. Many people in our world today are perfectionists or have been perfectionists at some point in their lives. Personally, I’m not a perfectionist but I’m a person who strives for excellence, always setting the highest standards for myself and never expecting anything less to be a world-class person.

*Are you a perfectionist or a person of excellence? How can you tell?

1. You are highly conscious and hypocritical of mistakes (perfectionist). You are your harshest critic and have an extremely sharp eye toward details (excellence)

We have been conditioned to blame something outside of ourselves

For the parts of our lives we don’t like. We blame our parents, our bosses, our friends, the media, our coworkers, our lack of money, our spouse, the weather, the economy, our astrological chart, God, anyone or anything we can pin the blame on. We never want to look at where the real problem is – OURSELVES

To achieve major success in life – to achieve those things that are most important to you – you must assume 100% responsibility for your life. Nothing less will do.

*If something doesn’t turn our as planned some of the questions you can begin to ask yourself are:

“Your life works to the degree you keep you agreements.” -Werner Erhard

*Never promise more than you can perform.

*Recognize your word is your bond. Don’t give your word casually and then causally break it.

W-H-E-N you don’t keep your agreements, you pay both external and internal cost – you loss trust, respect and credibility with others (your family, friends, colleagues and customers). You ultimately create mess in your own life and in the lives of those who depend on you for getting things done.
